Launch of the Safer Drivers Course for young drivers

NSW Safer DriversOver the past months, Transport for NSW and Be Learning created a program to address the high risk period for young learner drivers.

“The research tells us that crash rates increase when learners graduate from their learner licence to their provisional licence and this change is all about trying to prevent that trend continuing,”  -Duncan Gay, NSW Roads Minister

On the 1st of July, Mr. Duncan Gay, announced the launch of the ‘Safer Drivers Course’ – the first of its kind.

The Safer Drivers Course is a combined theoretical and practical course for under 25 year-old learner drivers who have completed transitioning to unsupervised driving increasing their personal responsibility in safe driving. The course consists of two modules: A 3hr Face to face facilitated group discussion aimed to Build awareness of risks, decisions and safe driving behaviours. Followed by a 2hr On-road experience to Work with a coach, gaining feedback and trialing low risk driving behaviours. You can find more information about the course at the NSW Centre for Road Safety.

We want to thank everyone involved in the project and we look forward to seeing a positive improvement in road safety statistics.
